Climate change is one of the most serious challenges facing our world. The choices we all make every day affect the planet we will entrust to future generations.

Stagecoach Group is helping protect our environment by encouraging people to reduce car use and get on board smarter, greener public transport. We are also working hard to build on the significant progress we have made in recent years to reduce our own carbon footprint, and have won many awards for our environmental initiatives.

Sustainability strategy:

• Our sustainability strategy, Revolution in the Way We Travel sets our five-year plan to reduce further the carbon emissions from our transport operations in the UK and North America.
• We are targeting an overall reduction of 8% in buildings CO₂e emissions and a cut of 3% in annual fleet transport CO₂e emissions by April 2014.
• Specific stretching targets have been set for our bus and rail businesses to deliver on our plan, which is being supported by an £11 million investment programme.

• Training employees in more efficient driving techniques

• Conserving and recycling water
• Reducing and recycling waste

Reporting on our progress:

• We will report annually through our website on our carbon emissions and our progress towards our targets.
• Stagecoach Group also reports on its global carbon footprint through the Carbon Disclosure Project, the world’s largest corporate greenhouse gas emissions database.
