The specialists of tomorrow
Stagecoach UK Bus offers apprenticeships at a number of locations throughout the UK. These start in August / September each year and we invite applications from 1 May each year.
Bus Engineers' Apprenticeship Programme
Engineers are the people who maintain our fleet of buses and coaches. They work at many of our UK locations and are critical to the reliable and safe operation of our services for our customers.
We currently offer two apprenticeships:
- 'Mechelec' - a combined mechanical and electrical qualification
- Body / Coachbuilder
Our apprenticeship is a four-year programme. The first three years are spent on the job learning in the depot with an allocated mentor to offer help and guidance. It includes attending a specialist training facility in either Glasgow or Wolverhampton (depending on home location) on a block release basis. The fourth year of the programme has been specially designed by us to consolidate technical skills already obtained and is certificated by the Institute of the Motor Industry.
Upon completion of your training, you will be awarded an Advanced Apprenticeship (Modern Apprenticeship in Scotland) in Bus and Coach Engineering Maintenance and will have the opportunity to become a member of the Society of Operations Engineers.
Requirements: You must have or expect to achieve 3 GCSEs at Grade C or Grade 4 or above, Standard Grade 1 - 3 or National 4 or 5 in English Language, Mathematics and a Science (or equivalent qualification) and have a genuine interest in engineering.
Selection process: this will include interviews and ability tests.
Applications are welcomed from 1 May each year and all vacancies will be advertised on the Stagecoach UK Bus dedicated recruitment site on this date at:
